How selling to us works
- Get a quote. Tell us your device's make, model, and condition. We send a cash, e-transfer, or store credit estimate in 1–2 business hours.
- Drop off or ship. Bring it to St. Vital (Winnipeg) or Thompson, or mail it in — buy a discounted trackable prepaid label right in the quote flow (typically $12–$20) and we email it to you; your full offer is paid out.
- We inspect & confirm. Our techs verify the device on the spot (or within 1 business day of mail-in arrival). If condition matches your description, the estimate stands.
- Get paid same-day. Choose cash, e-transfer, or store credit. Walk out with payment same visit in-store, or same-day after mail-in inspection.
Devices we buy
Phones — iPhone, Android, working or broken (cracked screens, battery issues, water damage). We install temporary parts to test if needed. Locked devices (iCloud or carrier) cannot be purchased.
Tablets — iPads and Android tablets in any condition. We handle data wiping and accept damaged screens or batteries. Must be unlocked from any cloud or carrier accounts.
Laptops + MacBooks — even older models have value. We securely erase all personal data during intake. iCloud-locked and account-locked devices cannot be purchased.
Game consoles + games — PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and physical game discs. Controllers and gaming accessories too. Working or testable issues.
Smartwatches — Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch, must be unlocked and testable. We don't buy fitness trackers, smart rings, or non-testable wearables.
Real story: we bought this "worthless" broken iPhone XR
A customer brought in an iPhone XR that was completely bent and shattered — front and back. They wanted their photos and contacts back, not a full repair.
We looked at the bent frame and smashed screen to see if the data inside could still be saved. Using a temporary screen we powered the phone back on and got into it — no full repair needed. Photos, contacts, and files were all backed up safely before anything else happened. The customer got paid same-day, and we responsibly recycled the leftover parts.

Before you sell — quick checklist

- We test broken devices by installing temporary parts when needed
- All personal data is wiped securely. Need help removing your data? We can assist.
Devices we can't purchase:
- Locked devices (iCloud, carrier, FRP, financing locks) — we can't unlock for buyers
- Audio products (wireless headphones, wired headphones, earbuds, speakers — any brand)
- Devices reported lost, stolen, or blacklisted
- Devices with active financing or balance owing
- Non-testable blacked-out devices (we must be able to power on or test with parts)
- Devices for "parts only" — we don't buy devices we can't restore to sellable condition
- Severely water-damaged devices may be eligible for recycling instead of payout (case-by-case)

How does Mobile Tech Lab's trade-in compare to carrier programs?
Carrier trade-ins lock you into a new 24-month contract and pay you in bill credit spread over the contract. We buy your device outright — cash, e-transfer, or store credit, your choice — same visit in-store. No commitment. Keep your existing carrier plan. The carrier programs are designed to subsidize a new line activation, not to give you the most cash.
Will you buy a broken phone?
Yes — cracked screens, dark / dead displays, battery issues, even water-damage cases (depending on severity). We install temporary parts to verify the device powers on and reads as functional. This means a cracked-screen phone or a dark display can still get a real offer — most other shops only buy fully working devices. Severely water-damaged devices may be eligible for recycling instead of cash payout.
What devices do you NOT buy?
Locked devices (iCloud / carrier / FRP / financing locks); audio products of any brand (headphones, earbuds, speakers); devices reported lost / stolen / blacklisted; devices with active financing or balance owing; non-testable blacked-out devices; fitness trackers and smart rings.
How do I get paid?
Three choices: cash (walk out same visit, in-store), e-transfer (same visit or same-day after mail-in inspection), or store credit (typically the highest payout — a +10% bonus toward repair, accessories, or a future purchase). You pick whichever works for you.

Yes. Trackable mail-in from anywhere in Manitoba — Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, Selkirk, Dauphin, Morden, Winkler, and rural communities. Buy a discounted prepaid label in the quote flow (typically $12–$20, live carrier rates — you see the exact price before paying) and we email it to you; your full offer is paid out, nothing is deducted. You drop the device with the carrier, we inspect within 1 business day of arrival and pay you same-day.
How much is my device worth?
Get a free quote — we'll come back with a real number in 1–2 business hours. Pricing depends on model, condition (working / broken), and current part-cost trends. As a rough guide: most customers walk out with $200–$400+ for a working older phone, more for newer flagship or condition-A devices.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Fully wiped or destroyed before resale. Never accessed without consent. If you need help removing your data before selling, we can assist — and if you haven't backed up your photos / contacts / files, our $129 Data Recovery & Transfer service can pull them off the device before the trade-in (we bundle the two for a discount).
